The law firm has a strong and long practice in handling foreign investments. Several of our clients, past and present, are foreign companies engaged in various fields of business, a number of which were or are registered with PEZA, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority. The firm has also become the legal counsel of the association of PEZA locators in the country. Several of our clients are foreign companies and nationals from various countries.
The Firm offers corporate retainer services that generally include corporate formation, setting-up of joint ventures, preparation of resolutions and other general corporate advisory services. Guidance and assistance are given in the acquisitions of business permits and licenses, as well as assistance in the formation of employment contracts and other business templates.
The firm has a long and substantial experience in the area of public utilities, particularly transportation. One of the firm’s founders, Vigor Mendoza II, was former Commissioner of the Department of Transportation – Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board. He also became a Congressman representing the public transportation sector in the country. At present, the firm handles a good portion of the public transportation modernization efforts.
Real Estate Properties & Development
The firm has also a long and substantial experience in the area of real estate properties and development. In fact, at present, around twenty percent (20%) of our firm’s work is in real estate such as land conversion, quieting of title, annulment of title, indigenous title claims, ejectment, among others.
Legal services are available for all types of commercial transactions in the Philippines where application of business law and general contract law are necessary to insure transactions are not only commercially viable but also comply with pertinent laws. Legal advice is also given on the application and interpretation of all laws administered by the Bureau of Investments (BOI), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and other government agencies dealing with commercial laws.
The Firm’s legal services covers all applications for licenses, permits, clearances with local government units and those which are required for regular and recurring transactions and activities of local government units. Our services extend to claims for and against the local government in terms of shares in the revenue, taxes and fees in relation to transactions entered into by the local government.
Estate Planning and Settlement
Our Firm offers our clients with detailed planning, including the preparation of wills and trusts, designation of beneficiaries and analysis of estate, gift and income tax consequences of an estate plan, with focus on estate planning for business owners.
The Firm’s legal services in this area comprise of assistance in the procurement of Philippine visa and work permits, litigation in cases of deportation and lifting of blacklists, as well as assistance in the procurement of US immigrant visas, both employment based and family based petitions, as well as non-immigrant visas such as tourist and student visas.
The Firm offers advisory services as regards water, air and noise pollution control. We also assist business entities in addressing issues pertaining to environmental laws to make sure such entities comply with such laws, at the same time maximize profit and minimize risk.
The Firm handles commercial litigation of every kind, including petitions for rehabilitation, suspension of payments, corporate dissolutions and liquidations, intra-corporate and stockholders’ derivative suits, real estate suits, among others.
The Firm’s services in this field include all legal aspects of filing, maintaining and defending civil cases in trial and appellate courts and administrative bodies. Examples of civil cases handled include general collection cases, breach of contract, as well as injunctions and other special court actions.
The firm has an extensive experience in handling criminal cases, whether either from business or corporate disputes, or personal and family matters. Our lawyers have handled criminal cases arising from violations of corporate transactions such trust receipts, indemnifications, bouncing checks, among others. We have also experience in the handling of criminal cases by individual clients and their family members, cases like kidnapping, homicide, rape, among others.
